One the one hand, this work represents special challenges of minors, who are pregnant or mothers, on the other hand it shows social helping possibilities for these young girls and their little children. During the adolescence, a teenager has to face different stages of development to reach adulthood successfully. Often, young people have difficulties achieving a certain stage, which can cause a crisis. Pregnancy or motherhood while being a teenager probably makes it even harder to complete development stages, also because the new role as mother leads to own special challenges that have to be coped with in addition. All in all, young pregnant women or mothers have to face a huge amount of challenges, including personal ones, those that are caused by an uncomprehending community or social surrounding and difficulties with arranging an education/job with children care. For social work, the “double child protection” arises out of the situation. Two minors, namely the young mother and her child have to be protected at the same time through professional help. Both, counselling and institutional support include possibilities for social work demonstrating its discipline to help the target group, often in cooperation with other professions though.
