This thesis is devoted to identify and discuss the barriers and possible solutions for grid-connected Do-It-Yourself photovoltaic systems. First of all, the legal framework which is related to this topic is introduced, then the specific barriers from assembling and installation of the system are also discussed. This thesis also shows that a layman is not only allowed to build up a PV system, but it is also technically possible. Further chapters like identification of potential danger (e.g. lightning protection) and maintenance and selling of the PV system are also described. Besides that, this thesis also includes inquiry report over an online shop for self-assembled PV system. At the end of the thesis there is a conclusion over the Do-it-Yourself installation of the PV system, where another option is recommended, namely let a company take over most of installation work and one only do the simple part.
