This paper describes the dietary process of a 54-year-old Turkish woman suffering from a metabolic syndrome. The patient is an insulin-dependent diabetic type II, which is classified as obesity grade III because of the woman’s Body Mass Index of 55 kg/m². Therefore the dietetic treatment includes a weight-reducing diet taking into consideration insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus II in the course of an individual therapy. There are some reference values defined which refer to energy content, main nutrient, fibers, carbohydrate units and hydration and based on these values an individual diet plan will be made. Furthermore, the diet plan considers the Turkish eating habits of the patient. Besides, the favorable choices of food as well as the appropriate quantity are described. Finally, the paper ends with a critical-reflexive examination of the dietary process.
