This thesis’ subject is suitable care of a woman and the best possible compilation of information when having an anonymous birth. First, the legal basics, procedures and situation in Austria are described. In addition to that the term “identity” and “identity shaping” in regards to adoption and anonymous birth are defined. The main statement of this thesis is that an adequate care of an anonymous parturient can be warranted through empathy, appreciation and a good relationship initiated by the midwife. Information for the anonymously born child includes anamnestic data of the parents, preferences and special characteristics, as well as personal things, the mother would like to the child to receive. To be able to gather the best possible information, it is necessary to earn the mothers trust, which makes good care a necessity. The identity shaping of the anonymously born child can be supported through the gathered information.
