The aim of this work was to gather new scientific knowledge in conjunction with chemotherapy induced apoptosis of human tumor cell lines. The focus was set on the examination of membrane vesicles, so called “blebs”, one of the morphological features of apoptotic cells. To establish an in-vitro model for the study of apoptosis, an appropriate chemotherapeutics was selected and its apoptosis inducing effect was proven by cell viability assays and western blots. Next the subzellular particles released by the apoptotic cells were analysed and quantified based on the model of apoptosis currently being developed. Finally the binding of the complement factor C1q to these particles had been investigated.
