This topic of this thesis is emergency room diagnostic, especially the role of computer-tomography in the modern emergency room. Details of emergency protocols and reconstructions in the acute diagnostic of critically injured patients that lead to the optimal treatment will be provided. Two polytrauma protocols, which are actually used at the Universitätsklinik für Unfallchirurgie in the Wiener Allgemeinen Krankenhaus will be introduced. The advantages of computer -tomography compared to other diagnostic modalities will be shown. The advantages and disadvantages of a sliding gantry and the of the whole body CT will be discussed. The equipment and personnel-specific prerequisites for the care of multiple injured patients are another part of this thesis. The factor time in the modern emergency diagnostic will be also described as well as the trace of a shock room patient on the example of the AKH Vienna. This Bachelor thesis is a literature study. Therefor selected literature has been researched in various medical databases. There are articles from various magazines and books used, which answer the research questions for this work.
