The core subject of this thesis is the support system Social Work can provide for homosexual teenagers in school and also extracurricularly. The first chapter is going to deal with the general situation of young homosexuals in today´s hetero normative society, respectively the influence hetero normative structures have on the basic young people´s environment: Concerning this matter, the connection between heteronormativity and homophobia will be discussed and represented in the context of school and extracurricular contents.
The second chapter is going to shortly discuss the current situation of dealing with homosexuality/homophobia in schools, and furthermore with a possible approach and access of social work in schools to this topic, including ideas of support and help.
The third and last chapter will be dealing with the context of Social Work outside of school. Hence, it constitutes the concept of a youth centre for gay/lesbian adolescents, which has already been successfully established in Germany.
