The police and law courts, as well as “considerate” citizens, keep on converting deviant behaviour of adolescents into delinquent behaviour by pressing charges against and adjudging them. Statistics of criminality and dark field research help evaluating the development of juvenile delinquency and illustrating the effects of this transformation.
This thesis states theories that deal with juvenile delinquency in particular. Besides it discusses the reasons why juveniles commit violent acts and analyses possible aims of juveniles when doing so. Furthermore this thesis examines group constructions of so-called “Intensivtäter” and violent criminals and takes a closer look at the motives these constructions are based upon. The field of social work is represented by probation service at “Verein Neustart”. The enormous “order of controlling” in that area has an influence on the work that is being done with clients. The analysis of this phenomenon forms another important part of this thesis.
