Dementia is one of the most common psychological disorders in old age and as the population grows older and older, the number of the affected is on the rise. In many cases, family members take care of their relatives suffering from this disorder. Sexuality plays an important role, especially when taking care of a spouse. Dementia, as well as other chronic diseases, has far-reaching influence on a marriage or partnership. It is assumed that such impairment has a severe impact on the partnership sex life. The present paper is a summary of findings in the literature, describing the correlation between dementia and changes in sexual behavior and their effects on the partnership.
