The diagnosis "vegetative state" or "Apallic syndrome" is a state of consciousness, which can be significantly improved by using professional nursing. This work allows the readers an insight into the positive impact of intensive care by the concept of “basal stimulation”. This literature review begins with the basics of medical vegetative state, providing information about the condition of the patients in this state. The literature work is discussing the concept of “basal stimulation” in the body and how it explains the part of professional nursing in acute care and rehabilitation is possible people in a vegetative state to provide support. One main focus is on promoting the nursing interventions, such as washing the body of a patient. At the end of the literature review can be found suggestions and inputs for the design of the promotional environment of patients in a vegetative state to also be able to interact positively with them.
