This thesis covers the differences in behaviour of female and male adolescents regarding processes of appropriation and extrusion in public areas. The first part deals with theoretical foundations regarding adolescence, especially focussing on appropriation and extrusion.
Subsequently, the empirical part – as the focal point of the thesis – is outlined by means of socio-spatial methods. The research area encompassed parks, institutions of youth work as well as several other public areas of the 20th municipal district of Vienna.
Conclusively, the research results are delineated in the résumé.
