In this thesis the clinical picture of dementia and Alzheimer's disease is described. By describing the different types of dementia, is a unification of dementia can be avoided. For a better understanding of the disease, the victims' perspective and that of the members are described. Furthermore, the work relates to the care of people with dementia in the outpatient sector . It is examined more closely the current situation in the extramural area and address the care provided by relatives. Reason for this is that a large proportion of care in the outpatient sector of members is made. For this reason, this work also points to various relief options for relatives. The last part of the work deals with the care of demented people at home and ways to improve the quality of life of people with dementia. Through the use of different concepts and types of therapy , the maintenance can be handled professionally at home and the quality of life of demented person can be increased. The application of these concepts leads to be able to cope with everyday life better , this avoiding an admission to a facility.
