The Helper Syndrome is a psychological disorder in connection with different personality trails, which can lead to a rigid mode of life. The own problems and weaknesses seem worse than they are. To reduce the feeling of weakness, the
affected help other people, who have to rely on help, for example in relationships, in their private life but also in their choice of work. Through self-sacrificing and devotion they expect gratitude to stabilize their weak self-confidence. You can find the Helper Syndrome in many social professions, but particularly in nursing professions. Nevertheless it stays unrecognized very
often and so it can lead to further personal or psychological problems, but also affect the whole working team.
