This thesis deals with the care of alcoholic patients in hospital in reference to requirements, which have to be achieved by the nursing staff. The relevance of the symptom and behaviour identification, which indicates addiction, particularly of anamnesis, is illustrated therein. In addition, the challenges are presented, with which the nursing staff is confronted, such as patients deny the dependence or appear drunken at the medical examinations. It also discusses the need for a specific education in addiction nursing. Basis for the best possible co-operation is a motivational interviewing, and a trusting relationship building.
