This bachelor thesis deals with the mirror neuron system in speech therapy within the scope of neurorehabilitation and how research results can be used in this context. Hence research results from different fields of studies have been compared regarding their potential impact on the speech therapy of neurological patients. The findings show that certain skills which can be used in a therapeutical setting can be related to the mirror neuron system. Those skills include the ability for imitation and the support of the brain plasticity. Related disorders, mentioned in the explored studies, are aphasia, functional dysphonia and dysphagia Looking into the subject of the mirror neuron system, it became clear, that there is a vivid discussion within the scientific community concerning the possible impact of the mirror neuron system, which might lead to an increase of research studies concerning this topic.
