In this bachelor thesis focuses on how children of schizophrenic parents can be helped to enhance their resilience.
Resilience is the ability to cope with difficult situations in life without being negatively effected by them. This power of resistance is increased by having personal and social resources at one`s disposal. Since pre-school children undergo a process of rapid development, they should receive special attention and support. Children with a schizophrenic parent often grow up in unfavourable conditions, which may have a negative influence on their mental and social development. Therefore it is important to help these families with the education of their children and give special support to the children when they encounter difficult situations.
In dealing with these problems the help from social workers is essential as they have been trained to support children in a way that minimizes any damage to their personal development and thus avoids psychic disorders .
