This thesis deals with the care and support of suicidal people in the hospital, which is a very responsible and challenging task for the staff. Suicide is still a taboo subject today, that’s why many patients and relatives don’t have the essential information. The realising of a risk suicide, by knowledge of numerous risk factors and behaviours is important, so that adequately reaction is possible. The important thing is not always to rely on standardized assessment instruments and that the overall clinical context is involved. An intensive and detailed discussion is necessary to determine the presence of possible suicidal ideation. For the successful implementation of interventions is a creation of a sustainable relationship necessary.
In addition, it’s about to evaluate the situation, to alleviate the symptoms, to involve relatives into the process and to find approaches for problem solving. After an acute phase, it is important to develop coping skills and to ensure an aftercare. If suicide is performed, knowledge about dealing with relatives, fellow patients and staff is of top priority.
