This Thesis deals with new forms of living in urban places. The locations Tokyo and Vienna are chosen, where single Projects are picked out and described more detailed. Urbanization as a major theme is defined, studied and historically analyzed. The two locations Vienna and Tokyo are also described by historical issues, location itself, forms of living and future prediction. The chosen projects, designed by well known and unknown architects, are sorted in the chapters Cohousing, “roji” and collaborative living, Minimal houses and Sharing. The aim of this Thesis is to analyze the sozio- ecological factors and to find pioneering designs of living and social togetherness.
