This literary research paper is concerned with the question: What use is a theoretical and methodological knowledge of sexual education in practical social work with adolescent girls? To answer this question, the current state of research in German language literature and the current outlook on human sexual development are summed up. To focus the initial question on
adolescent girls as a target group, influences and challenges originating from the lifeworld are described. The final results, inasmuch as they concern the professional practice of social work, show that sexual topics have been part of social work or youth work with girls at least since the 1970s. Exemplary working guidelines on some of the relevant topics illustrate the practical use.
