This bachelor thesis deals with questions, such as the chances that electronic monitoring for mother and child offers and also the disadvantage followed by the consequences arising from this. The author concentrates on a mother with a preschool child. It has to be clarified, that the house arrest is not only restricting the mother’s freedom, it is also affecting the child. Specifically, the problems of the mother, but also of the child are described. In additional to potential consequences of house arrest, domestic violence is also thematised and further the danger of a child’s well-being. Furthermore the resources, which can make the daily routine easier for mother and child and prevent or alleviate conflicts, are being discussed. Further on, the importance of the support which a social worker offers is being highlighted but also criticized, since there are no specific supporting methods for a mother with child during electronically guarded house arrest. The authors opinion is that the system of help during this time urgently need a reform. They should focus more on the needs of a mother and her child.
