Youngsters with mental disorders at the transition from school to work. Possibilities of support in social work. The purpose of this Bachelor-Thesis is to identify how social work could help young people suffering from a mental disorder, so that they will be given the chance to a fulfilling employment. The first part of this thesis deals with the factors that influence this process - factors related to the economic situation of a country and to the educational system, as well as issues related to the daily work procedures. The stigmatization of individuals with psychological problems will not only affect them in a personal level, but in a professional level as well. It is observed, that there is a gap in the knowledge and understanding about mental illnesses in the society. A gap, which is sometimes extended to the professional social work, as even the administrated individuals are not always in the position to identify the symptoms of a mental condition and the causes of it. Thus, this thesis will focus on investigating which mental illnesses are met more often among the youngsters, it will then identify the possible triggers of mental illnesses and it will present the sources in Vienna, where individuals could seek for advice and assis-tance. At the end, a framework of suggestions for youngsters suffering from a mental illness will be presented, as a means of supporting them with the transition from the school life to the employment life. |
