Caregivers are often faced with aggression on psychiatric wards. In the context of working with psychiatric patients, it is of great importance, that emerging aggression and related violence by caregivers, are prevented in advance. Of great importance is the design of the environment, because the environmental conditions have a major impact on psychatric patients. Despite all preventive and de-escalating measures, aggressive assaults by patiens are very common and sometimes violence by cargivers is unavoidable. In order to deal with the violence and the general stressful circumstances on psychiatric wards, the mental hygiene and self-care of caregivers is of great importance.
