This paper examines the formation of contrast media induced nephropathy after contrast agent application under the use of computed tomography. It will be discussed which factors play a role in the formation of contrast induced nephropathy. Among others, these factors are considered to be: age, weight, and characteristics of associated contrast agents.
Furthermore, -prophylactical procedures with contrast media induced nephropathy are embraced under the use of computed tomography, which, on the other hand, prevents the formation of this acute kidney disease after contrast agent application. Another factor to be considered is the blood parameters before contrast agent injection.
The role of the radiographer will also be shown in the prevention of contrast - induced nephropathy.
The paper is based on secondary literature which was found on databases such as “Science Direct”, “Pubmed”, “Pubmed Central”, “CINAHL”, and “MEDPILOT” through medical papers and scientific literature. The aim of this scientific paper is to list risk factors and prophylactical procedures with contrast media induced nephropathy.
