This thesis deals with the most commonly used methods as well as novel techniques for analyzing Salmonella enterica, Vibrio cholerae and Listeria monocytogenes. The genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of the microorganisms are the crucial factor for an adequat identification. Because the typing methods are essential for the implementation of appropriate infection control measures and epidemiologic studies, the most proper practice has to be applied. On the basis of these facts the thesis also consider the comparison between advantages and disadvantages of the different methods and their basic principles. Furthermore, proceedings in science have to be carved out, which improved techniques, that were already available, by small changes. The development of methods is inevitable for an effective infectioncontrol. Therefore, the aim is to get a general idea of opportunities for identification and to draw the conclusion for rapid, effective and cheap typingtechniques, because of comparisons.
