The aim of this bachelor thesis is the development and construction of a Charpy impact testing machine. The test configuration is so designed that it confirms to Charpy testing (DIN EN ISO 179-1) and tests can be carried out in a shock interval range from 0,5 to 30 Joule. For this purpose, the behavior of metals and plastics under testing conditions is described in more detail. Thereafter, the design procedure of the testing machine, as confirm to the modern design methods and standardized guidelines, is given. By elaborating several possible variants, the optimal machine will be determined. The result of this bachelor thesis will be the design, construction, and calculations of the Charpy impact testing machine.
