In the course of harmonize national building regulations, the OIB-guidelines had been arisen. One particularly heavy subject was, the fire protection, by its extensive scope.
Therefore, the target of this thesis set on comprehensibility and applicability of the OIB-guideline 2 with the topic fire protection. At the beginning the backgrounds and the process of evolution are outlined. The publication had been planned earlier. However, in 2007 it definitely was determined. Essential contents of the guideline, the associated guidelines 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and the guidance document for variations are summed up, according to the motto “keep it simple”. During the years these documents have been revised and republished. To show the modifications, all published works were collated. Mostly the wording and structuring had changed, so fare in the course of comparison the obscurities are visible, mostly because of the wording, for example “surrounding glass surface”. What is the authors insinuating? Beside of obscurities suggested improvements were acquired. To mention as example: The facility to graduate the fire resistance requirements for higher buildings. Finally, common application errors were mentioned in the last chapter, which affect any fire protection negatively.
