Server Based Rendering is a common way of rendering pictures in radiology. In the following, metrics are evaluated which are used to measure rendering performance. Furthermore, metrics are discussed, that quantify the performance of Server Based Rendering. In the empirical part of this project, Server Based Rendering via Remote Desktop is tested using a server, a PC, a laptop and a tablet. The FPS of Slicer 3D, rendering an MRI dataset are measured. This is used to compare the performance of Server Based Rendering via Remote Desktop with the performance directly on the clients. The limitations of this method are discussed and the results are evaluated. The measurements confirm the hypothesis, that Server Based Rendering via Remote Desktop can be used as a viable alternative to rendering directly on a console. This method of SBR is recommended especially, if the performance of the server is considerably higher than the clients performance.
