The present thesis tries to compare the currently available housing forms for the elderly in Vienna and is subject to a critical way of looking at the advantages and disadvantages of those affected. First, the definition of the relevant terms such as age, health and economic situation will be explained. The following chapters will explain the demographic development, long-term care and housing. The housing forms are examined in regards to health effects and a view of material resources for the affected people. The last chapter will discuss the possibilities for social working with the emphasis on elder people and living forms.
