Comprehensive, regulative requirements determine the technical, operational management in Austrian hospitals. On the one hand, Austrian authorities request these requirements. On the other hand, these requirements should avert claims of compensation. The operator of a healthcare facility is responsible for meeting these standards. On the national level, a technical safety commissioner serves as consultant who is also in charge of patients’ safety. Special attention is given to pipeline systems for medical gases. Therefore, this bachelor thesis deals with the topic of hospital pipeline installations. An existing pipeline, which was constructed in 1989, is analyzed in terms of safety and compared to current pipeline installations and their new technology. Thus, this bachelor thesis questions if new installations have led to higher security and an improvement in the care of patients.
