School social services are a new field of activity, however it has considerably developed in the past decades. This thesis describes the implementation of school social services in the school system, currently present in Austria, Germany and Switzerland with the focus on primary schools. Therefore we can make connections between elementary schools and school social services. The first part of the thesis is concentrated on the presentation of the elementary school system, meanwhile, the second part specifies the implementation of the school social services. Finally the findings are summarized in the conclusion. It appears that we can hardly notice the presence of the school social services in elementary schools, we can however already witness a slow development. In the process, we can observe that the highest level of implementation was reached in Switzerland followed by Germany and Austria.
