The bachelor thesis deals with the portrayals of women in media and advertisement and their potential impact on health. For this purpose, the basics and central features of advertisements are being explained in the first chapter in more detail. The aim is to gain an understanding of how media wants to address and at the same time influence certain people. After explaining the basics, the focus will be on the different role models and portrayals of women in advertisement. For this purpose, individual roles, which women are usually attributed to in advertisements, are discussed. Subsequently, the curiosity of woman as a sex objects for advertising purposes is being described. Furthermore, the processing and impact processes of media and the possible health consequences are also being discussed. For this purpose, reference is made to somatic and mental illnesses such as anorexia nervosa or depression. This bachelor thesis ends with the possible influences for the social work and their role in doing so. Organizations which deal with the impact of beauty delusional and offer support and counseling for affected and relatives of affected ones, are also being introduced at the end.
