This bachelor thesis deals with the “Viennese avantgarde of sustainable architecture (WANA) – Profound analysis and effects of the project Alpha 11 by SUE Architects.” Based on that analysis this thesis enables an insight into applied strategies of architecture and building facilities. These architecture strategies reveal the location of the building and its consequential follow-up costs, constructions and concepts for heating, cooling, ventilation and sanitary. Furthermore, the requirement assessment and the concept of use are highlighted. The analysis of the building facilities shall indicate if there is a tendency towards Low- or High-tech. This is essential for the determination of comfort requirements. Consequently, it must be answered if standardized strategies are still possible and if a disregard of ethical aspects during the planning process evokes far-reaching consequences. In return this demands a discussion of changes in the professional profile of architects. By focusing on relevant literature, certification systems have been examined about their focus which is necessary to determine how far societal parameters are involved and if a quantification of them is possible. Particularly under investigation is the urban development zone Neu-Erdberg – Simmering.
