When people have something tangible in their hands, it is always something special. A good example of this is the difference between an e-reader app and a newspaper. An e- reader app developed in accordance with Google's design guidelines gives the user the feeling of interacting with a newspaper, even though it is not real. Google Material Design, which was introduced as a new design language with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) in 2014, conveys this through digital media. This thesis examines the advantages of material design from a user and developer perspective. For this purpose, an existing application called TrackMyNight was adapted and redesigned. In the process, a new design will be created and developed, taking into account the special requirements of this application as well as the material design guidelines.
