In this work an insight into the market area online trading is offered. Based on existing definitions and relationships between the actors involved in online trading, the e-commerce sector is introduced to the reader. Particular attention is paid to the role of packaging in the processes of logistics and transport, since here, especially online retailers have special requirements on how a seller must deliver the goods, in order to have them registered and recorded smoothly in the logistics center of the online retailer. Furthermore, the sales channels are discribed via an in-house online shop and via an online retailer. Also, the relationship between online retailers and manufacturers is examined and pointed out. Since distribution via online retailing is different from that for stationary retailing, there are also other packaging requirements. For this reason, the basic functions of a packaging are listed in this paper and the differing aspects in the online trade are added. Furthermore, an insight into the activity during the internship will be given and the results will be presented. In addition, the experience in researching delivery terms from stock to the logistics center of Amazon is described.
