This bachelor thesis is intended to give an overview of the diagnosis of colon carcinoma and its treatment, which involves the establishment of a stoma. The diagnosis of cancer is an incision into life for all affected persons. Cancer diagnosis is not only bringing negative experiences and feelings with it, but also positive ones. These can be recognized above all in the partnership. In addition to the diagnosis of cancer, the Stoma system is a further burden for all affected patients. In order to optimally apply the stoma and to ensure independent care, preoperative marking is indispensable. Already during the first postoperative change of care of the stoma, the graduated health and nursing staff begins to train and guide the patients to achieve self-sufficiency until discharge. The training is gradual and includes dry exercises.
The stoma affects many different areas of life such as working life, travelling and changes in diet and body image disturbance.
