Understanding the mother-child bond in the borderline context.
What effects does personality disorder have on child development?
I chose the topic of this Bachelor thesis, because my childhood was marked by a borderline parent. The Child and youth welfare was a good support for me and my siblings during this period, but it would have taken more knowledge and understanding for my stepmother's illness. So was my father, who was trapped in this kind of relationship and could not save us alone. Based on this experience, I wanted to get to know and understand the disease better. It was particularly important to me to investigate the effects on the child's experience, behaviour and thus the entire development and to answer the research question posed in this way as well as possible. In my opinion, this disease is another unexplored field in social work. For this reason it is important to show how children confronted with this disease survive, what strategies they develop for it and exactly how it can affect child development.
