The large number of products in the consumer goods market is increasingly calling for a targeted focus on packaging. The pack itself has come first in the market. The main focus of this study is now targeted to secondary or tertiary packaging. All relevant requirements in this context are argued and discussed. A look into the past flanks this work as well as a trend analysis into the future. The present work is based on specialist literature, arranges the results and interprets them. As part of the work, a guideline with questions will emerge, which serves as a guideline in packaging design and packaging development processes of secondary and tertiary packaging.
