This bachelor thesis presents an analysis of a selected cullet treatment plant with respect to future investments. Firstly, this thesis provides an overview of the general topic glass recycling, highlighting the advantages of using recycled glass for the production of container glass. Furthermore, quality criteria as well as impacts on subsequent processes referring to preparation are described. The subsequent section includes a description of the plant under consideration and of adverse effects resulting from the preparation process. The main focus of this bachelor thesis is contained in chapter "Measures to increase throughput and improve quality", which discusses ways to improve the plant’s performance in terms of both efficiency and quality - for example, to minimise the amount of waste products and the loss of glass. Finally, the conclusion highlights potentials for improvement in the glass processing process from the perspective of the author. All in all, this thesis will be of particular interest to students and teachers of packaging technology/industry and improve their knowledge in glass recycling. Moreover, the insights gained by this work will form the basis for discussions with suppliers about future investments.
