The goal of this paper should be to identify the benefits of a decentralized data storage in a blockchain for the packaging and food industry. What Values can be saved and used in a proper way for improving the supply chain, tracing different materials and products. In the actual digital society every company creates tones of data records related to a product for QC purpose. Most of these values are stored in a database and never used. If it is possible to connect this data somehow, decentralized it will create a huge benefit, if this data where stored in an immutable decentralized publicly available opensource blockchain. This blockchain have to be easy access-, and usable to make it easy to collaborate. Adding values to this blockchain should have also a benefit for the participants. The data must be anonymous to protect the privacy of the users and prevent leaking of sensitive information to the public. The balance between anonymization and ranking should be chosen by the user. Finding already existing frameworks that can be adopted to the needs is an important part of the research in the document as well explaining the advantage of the blockchain usage compared to established data storage techniques.
