After colds, back pain is the second most common reason for doctor visits. This is a big burden on the health care system (Sturm W, Thimm M, Fink G, Kist J Karbe H, 2013). The experimental basis for the facet joints infiltration with local anesthetics was laid by Moon and Robertson in 1976 (Sturm W, Thimm M, Fink G, Küst J Karbe H, 2013). At the beginning of this work an overview of the anatomy of the spine is given. The facet joint is shown clearly. Then the facet syndrome will be explained. Then the course of a CT guided faceted block is explained. The necessary utensils are listed. In the first main chapter, the research question, which criteria for a CT specific facet blockade must be fulfilled, is addressed. The second main chapter analyzes the risks of the facet blockade and the advantages and disadvantages derived from it. In the last main chapter alternative imaging techniques for CT guided facet block are presented.
