This thesis „Voluntary commitment reasons, expectations and enrichment“ deals with the Viennese Red Cross project “FamilienTreffen Starthilfe für Flüchtlingsfamilien”. The studied project supports reunited refugee families after a family reunification. Therefore, the families are assisted by voluntary “IntegrationsBuddies”, who accompany the families with their first steps in Austria. The focus of the work is on researching the design of the voluntary participation in this integration project. Especially the view of the volunteers is interesting, the reasons why they started to volunteer and how they feel about the commitment. The results of the research questions were generated by an empirical survey in the form of a qualitative mix of methods. This consists of a participatory observation, a document analysis, an expert interview and problem-focused guided interviews. Through the research the integration project and the framework conditions of the voluntary participation could be studied. Furthermore, the experiences of the committed buddies were explored.
